From
the Licking River Boathouse, we launch downstream (toward downtown
Cincinnati) and row upstream (South) on the Licking River. We can
also row on the Ohio River, but most people choose to row on the
Licking as it is more protected and has less commercial river traffic.
Barges do come on the river for Ashland Oil and Newport Steel --
if you see one coming toward you, get to a straight-away and tuck
in to shore.
Generally,
we stay between the mouth of the Licking and I-275, about a 5 mile
stretch. The Head of the Licking course goes from Wilder Park to
the end of General James Taylor Park, about 3 miles.
