The Boathouse

If someone were to ask the simple question, "Where is the boathouse?", most people would expect a simple answer in return. Not here in Cincinnati. To the non-rowing population, "The Boathouse" is a restaurant location in downtown Cincinnati on Eastern Ave. To our rowers, it could be one of two locations, depending on the time of the year and the context.

The Licking River Boathouse

During the on-water season, the Licking River boathouse is usually what is referred to as "The Boathouse". It is located at 100 Riverboat Row at the rear end of James Taylor Park in Newport, KY (past the green gate down the dirt road). It is not in the best neighborhood, so don't leave valuables in sight in your car.

The Cincinnati Rowing and Fitness Center

During winter training, and Phase One of Learn to Row, "The Boathouse" refers to the Rowing and Fitness Center under the Montgomery Inn Boathouse. This is where many club members spend the winter training on the ergs and in the tanks. We currently have group workouts there on Thursdays at 6:15 PM and Saturdays at 9 AM. If you want to join the Rowing and Fitness Center, make sure to mention the club so you can get the Corporate Rate.
